Real Men Can Wear Pink
It is very true that in today's society pink is considered to be a feminine color. Yes, there are men and boys out there that will wear a pink shirt here or there, but it is very rare to see one wearing pants with butterfly's or flowers embroidered on them. It is even more common for babies to be more color segregated. This is due to the image that has been created. Baby boys should be wearing blue, baby girls should be wearing pink, and yellow is a neutral color for both boys and girls. I personally agree and disagree with this article. I feel that boys should be able to wear anything they want, and that includes pink. They shouldn't be looked at differently because they want to wear a certain color. I also believe that by having a baby wear more girlie things you are making boys and girls more equal. One problem that I feel arise's from this is many feel that by changing the perception of what is feminine and masculine could change a lot. Many feel that they want to be more feminine or masculine and by doing this won't wear something that would make it questionable. Personally I feel it should be anyone's choice to wear what they want to wear. It should be equal. If a male doesn't want to wear pink because it feels it will make him look feminine, then he doesn't have to wear pink. A real man can wear pink because he is comfortable with his sexuality.

I agree with you on the fact that society has the belief that it is only acceptable for women to wear pink. I also agree that men can wear pink too and that the boys that think they can't wear pink, their immature and are afraid of the color! Pink is just a color and it should be able to be worn by all! Boys should not be afraid to wear the color and if their mature enough, they would embrace the color rather than not wear it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, there is no reason why society should not allow boys to wear pink. Its just a color, and it doesn’t take away from the fact that a man is a man in any way. I also agree that a person should be able to wear whatever they like, regardless of what sex it is associated with. I think it is unfair however that he is basically making his young son wear pink and that isn’t necessarily his choice. It seems like the dad is putting his son in those clothes for the soul purpose of making him look feminine, which backfires on his argument.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Jamie. It is okay for guys to wear pink. If he is secure about his sexuality, he should not worry about what others think of him. This goes back to the point that I made. People worry too much about what other people think of them. This is the real reason behind why guys do not pink. It is not because they are raised to be masculine. It is because they are raised to worry about what others think about them. I disagree what A Freshman says. He is making his son wear his sister’s hand-me-downs to save money.
